Endure (with joy) to the End
Amidst all the whining and crying this morning, I decided the kids and I needed a break. It would have to be together, so I gave them a choice. Walmart or Costco. What a choice huh. In the car I had the music on a little louder than usual to drown out a particularly persistent whiney noise coming from the backseat, and as I felt a headache popping by for a visit, a thought came to my head, "Endure to the end, and do it with joy." Now I'm not saying my life is something I need to "endure", sure there are certainly enduring moments, some days have more than others, but I did it. I took a deep breath (something I was coaching Shayla to do in between sobs), drove to Costco, enjoyed the scenery, and by the time we were all situated in the cart and heading inside the store, the two big kids were giving me hugs and kisses, and baby Liam was almost asleep. The rest of the day has been much more enjoyable for all, and I appreciate the smiles and play noises more than I would have before. I think life IS like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're going to get. But come on...whether it's good or bad...it's all chocolate!

Oh sooo true! But sometimes the chocolate is just too bitter. You will need a second piece to wash the bitterness away! But then it is all good again! I do love chocolate!
Laura (and Shelly), I could not have said it better. I wish I had had your wisdom when mine were smaller. We live and we learn, and we always need to listen to those thoughts that pop into our head...
What a great post. I am so proud of you Laura, not because you controlled yourself for your children but because you made the choice to go to Costco and not WALMART!!! Ha!, I love you girl.
Amen to that sister! kids and motherhood are a journey of live and learn. I am so grateful you share your talents with us - your happy smile, your warn spirit. And to not say the least, your play and learn activities at church are the best! you are definetely inspired...

Love it. There are definitely many varieties of chocolate, aren't there?!
Did Costco have samples when you were there? 'Cause that solves a whole lot of troubles right there. My kids like to go there just for samples...they call it "The Sample Store." ;)
