We had a family weekend for Easter, starting Friday afternoon. It was just the kids and Josh and I--just what we needed. We decorated Easter eggs Friday night, and had a family sleepover in the living room with sleeping bags and all. (Liam and Josh ended up in their own beds...hmm..)Then Saturday we woke up and drove the distance to Ocean Shores to spend the day, we packed a picnic and our airplane kite and headed into the unknown..weather that is. We got there and it was overcast and a bit breezy and misty (ok, maybe a tiny bit more than breezy). The kite went right into the sky, and Ammon had a great time holding it, until a gust pulled it away from him and then we got to see Josh chase it down about a quarter mile down the beach. He's our hero! We drove down and picked him up, then enjoyed our picnic (in the car) and watched the waves. Liam preferred to stay inside the back of the suburban and out of the weather. By the end of our outing we had a bucket full of wet and sandy sandollars and shells (we threw back the live sand dollars), and kids. Liam decided to get out of the back of the suburban for a few minutes and climb around a bit on a fallen tree stump with Ammon and Shayla.

We watched some crazy jet skiiers and a couple of patient fishermen as we drove up and down the coastline. We got some hot cocoa for the ride home and warmed up at home with a nice warm bubble bath. It was good to get away and relax and make memories as a family! We all need that once in awhile! :)Easter Sunday was fun at George and Jessica's, with delicious food and a cute egg hunt for all the grandkids. Monday for FHE we built a fort and watched Tale of Desperaux for our activity. What a fun filled and relaxing weekend... if only every weekend could be like that!
